Stephen “Steve” Waterhouse died in New York City on December 8, after a brief battle with brain cancer. He was 74.

Born in Sanford, Maine, Waterhouse was a lifelong skier. After attending Dartmouth (Class of 1965, MBA 1967), he held executive positions at Procter & Gamble, Avon, Revlon and the London-based Tilling Group. In 2001 he founded the consulting firm Hanover Partners. 

Active in alumni activities, Waterhouse assumed leadership of a Dartmouth ski-history project that produced the book Passion for Skiing, of which he was lead author. The book won an ISHA Ullr Award for 2010. He became executive director of a film based on the book, the documentary Passion for Snow, which won an ISHA Film Award for 2012, and an Emmy nomination for documentary of the year in 2013. He organized an annual reunion for Dartmouth Ski Team members in Vail.
