Al Goto, who built a successful career as a marketing executive in the ski industry, died on November 1, 2016.

With a lifelong passion for skiing, Al got his start in the business working at A&T ski manufacturers in Seattle. In 1970 he became one of the first employees at Lange’s new factory in Broomfield, Colorado, where he worked for Nick Hock in the marketing department. He returned to A&T, where he won advertising industry awards for his work promoting Dynastar, Salomon and Skilom. Thereafter he served many years as Director of Marketing for Copper Mountain in Colorado.

In the 1990s, Al suffered a major stroke that permanently paralyzed one side of his body. He moved to Sonoma County and joined the Golden Gate Transit Authority as an advocate for disabled passengers. His job was to ride busses around Marin County and into San Francisco, evaluating the busses and drivers for their skill in dealing with the handicapped. In 2015 a group of his Colorado friends raised money to bring him back to the Denver area. Al spent the last year of his life at Holly Heights Care Center. Al maintained a sharp mind and sense of humor, up to the end.
