Dear Friend of ISHA,

In Jean-Claude Killy you think of an athlete who amazingly won the World Cup and all three Olympic alpine skiing gold medals within a span of less than 12 months in 1967-68. After he turned pro, companies, such as Rolex, Coca Cola and dozens more, rushed to link their brands with Killy’s name. Even today, his endorsement is a valued item in the corporate world.

Now I’m going to tell you another reason Killy is unique among the champions of sport. . . something you haven’t heard.

Like many star athletes, the gracious Frenchman occasionally allows his name to be used freely for a charitable cause. But in his relationship with one special charity, ISHA, he not only endorses it, he’s one of our largest financial benefactors.

A few weeks ago, in a phone exchange with Jean-Claude, I asked him why he gives to ISHA. “How can we know and really enjoy our sport,” he responded, “if we don’t know who and what came before? It is what you guys do so well. It’s why I read every issue of Skiing Heritage.”

Now I’m asking you to join one of the fabled champions of our sport: As Killy does, please donate generously to ISHA so that we can accomplish the work described in the pamphlet accompanying this letter.
