Default Instructions for adjusting marker explodomat heel neeeded.

I have a nice pair of old Fisher metal skis with the non rotating version of the marker explodomat binding. I plan to take them out for some leisure skiing, but an not 100% certain on how to set the rear. I would love to hear from someone with experience.

    From what I can tell:

The cable can be set in one of a few slots to get the right length.

There are 4 small lines on the body that seem to point at the release spring, indicating the pre-tension. Mine sit roughly two lines in, or roughly mid way.

The small screw/pin can be flush with the steel plate on the body (and releases easily then), or can stick out some amount making the release harder.

Again, any info or experience would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dan

You're right about the adjustments on the Exlodamat. Forward pressure is regulated by relocating the cable in the slots provided under the heel plate. Release tension is adjusted by turning the pin that peeks thru the top of the cast aluminum yoke. This is obviously not a precision instrument. It also predates the DIN scale for release values, and I can find no adjustment tables for this binding, either in my chaotic files or on line.

If you are going to ski on this rig, it would be best to calibrate the release using a ski shop test device like a Vermont Calibrator -- though it may be a problem finding a shop willing to test this obsolete binding for you.

Good luck with it, and happy New Year!
