Denver/Winter Park may roll again In April, Denver's weekend ski train was sold off to run routes in Canada. In September, a new railroad operator announced plans to revive servce from Denver to Winter Park this winter, beginning Dec. 26. See the Denver Post story here. Trains have run from Denver to Colorado's ski hills since 1911 (see Skis, Trains and Mountains), with significant breaks in service. Amtrak still runs the California Zephyr with regular service out of Denver westbound to Emeryville, stopping in Fraser (Winter Park), Glenwood Springs (Sunlight and Aspen), Provo (Sundance), Salt Lake City (the Cottonwood Canyons) and Truckee (Lake Tahoe).
